I came to Colorado Springs in Oct 2003.  It was all ready getting cold.  This would be my last duty station after 10 years of active duty.  I was assigned to the

There are many places to visit that are quite beautiful.  Garden of the Gods is one of those places.  I thoroughly enjoyed the time that I spent there.

The name "Rothenburg ob der Tauber" is actually a shortened version of "Rothenburg oberhalb der Tauber", which in German means "Rothenburg over the Tauber". This is so because the town is located on top of a mount overlooking the Tauber river. As to the name "Rothenburg", some say it comes from the German words Rot (Red) and Burg (burg, medieval fortified town), referring to the red colour of the roofs of the houses which overlook the river.

In the picture of the Town Hall Square, note that the building on the right has a series of six windows on its second story. There is a webcam located in one of these windows, with a 24-hour view of the square.

This building is the Ratstrinkstube, and also contains the a clock which re-enacts the historic meistertrunk daily. According to legend, the meistertrunk commemorates the event in 1631 when the walled town was under siege from the Imperial forces of Count Tilly. On a lark, Count Tilly told the city that he would spare them if anyone could drink a tankard containing about one gallon

Grafenwöhr
Grafenwoehr is located in beautiful Bavaria, near Nuremberg. The major command is the 7th Army Training Command with the primary mission of training. There is approximately 1000 people assigned as permanent party in Grafenwoehr. The history of Grafenwoehr is quite interesting. In 1907, Prince Luitpold, regent of Bavaria, selected the area near Grafenwoehr as the place best suited for training of the Bavarian Army. Construction began in 1908 and by 1915, the reservation covered an area of 37 square miles. At 0800 hours on 30 June 1910, the first artillery round was fired. Throughout WWI, from 1914-1918, the training area was used for training andre-equipping of combat units. After the end of the war, the Berlin High Command utilized Grafenwoehr Training area for the 100,000 man German army. In 1936, Adolf Hitler came to power and in a few years the training area became too small for the fast growing German army. In 1936, it was expanded to the present size of 90 square miles. On 5 and 8 April 1945, the camp and town were subjected to an air raid conducted by the Allies. The American era began after the last German Commander of the training area surrendered to the American forces on 20 April 1945. During the first few years, only units stationed at Grafenwoehr used the training area. In 1947, the American Army reactivated the training area for unit training purposes.

This is where the 159th pulled 1st up duty. The living quarters were upgraded shortly after I arrived, and were fairly comfortable.  When the new duty crew arrived, the first thing they did was visit the commissary, and buy their weeks supply of food since trips from the duty facility were limited.

    Future Use

    More comprehensive screen stylesheet
The improved cross-browser consistency is a result of Sinorca’s more comprehensive screen stylesheet. Major style parameters are explicitly defined in the stylesheet, resulting in less dependence on browser-determined defaults and thus fewer rendering idiosyncrasies.
    Removal of colour scheme stylesheet
I’ve removed the separate colour scheme stylesheet found in the original version, instead incorporating the colour definitions in the single screen stylesheet.
Addition of a print media stylesheet
Sinorca now has a print media stylesheet that styles the page in a format appropriate for black and white printing. To see the effect of this stylesheet, select print preview from the file menu, or direct this page to a printer (NB: print only this frame if you are viewing this template in a multi-frame document).
